Dang, what a weekend! This Saturday was our annual 12 Hours of Summit Suffering, our favorite event of the year to host! This one was definitely an incredible one - we had 250 COMPETITORS climb from 9 am to 9 pm at all FIVE Summit locations! They climbed, they took classes, they dressed up, they CONQUERED. Here is a brief recap from the event - click through our photo gallery to see our brave competitors / staff throughout the event!
The 12 Hours of Summit Suffering competition is coming around the corner! (If you don't know what that is, click on the link! Trust us ... it's awesome.) Not only is this a super fun comp, but every competitor has a chance to win something awesome during the huge raffle that happens after the comp! This competition would be nothing without its sponsors, so we wanted to use this post to give all of them a shout-out, plus let y'all know some of the goodies you can look forward to maybe snagging! The after-party this year will be at Summit Grapevine and will include food, beer, awards and the raffle prizes! Of course, we aren’t competing for the goods, but this is a climber's DREAM raffle! The prizes include ski lift tickets, bottles, chalk, chalk bags, ropes, LOTS of gift cards, clothes, clinics, climbing shoes, snacks, crag packs, brushes, coupons, even yoga gear!
What better way to forge new friendships than with pain, sweat, and flappers — all while dressed like a pirate, a teletubbie, or holding a huge baguette? Our 12 Hour comp is pretty much guaranteed to get you 148 more friend requests — cause climbing for 12 hours straight changes a person and those 148 new friends might be the only people that understand you now.
It's here again! The time is nearing for our second annual 12 Hours of Summit Suffering competition! The comp is August 27th, and you'll have from 9 am to 9 pm to climb as many routes as you can, at three of our locations! (Dallas, Carrollton, and Grapevine.) We modeled this competition off of the infamous 24 Hours of Horseshoe Hell competition. We're making this year's bigger than last year's — more food, more beer, more raffles — we're even increasing the number of competitors! This year we are adding more ways to earn point bonuses - like taking a yoga and an abs class will give you a massive boost!
It's been almost two weeks since our 12HSS competition, and it was totally nuts — to put it the most mildly. Over 50 teams (and over 100 climbers) climbed for 12 hours straight at three different gyms, and made thousands of sends, and climbed for miles — literally. In this post we've got a collection of what everyone climbed, how far, and their total points as well as their standing in their category. Towards the end we'll have a mini-photo album, collected from all of your Instagram photos! Here's the run-down of just how impressive all that climbing was: All in all, competitors climbed 41.7 miles at three gyms about the distance from the center of Dallas all the way to Denton, but in vertical climbing feet!
Another week and another shameless post reason why you should be signing up for our 12 Hours of Summit Suffering (as if you needed another reason), as brought to you by Retail Manager Trevor Whitis, aka guest blogger extraordinare.
I think we all have that friend — you know, the one that seems to be able to climb endlessly without even breaking a sweat. Yes, we all have that friend and secretly hate that friend but let's face it — we are NOT that friend. We gotta train our endurance, and battle the pump when things start getting real. Unless your forearms are made of some sort of iron, then endurance training is always a benefit — especially if you are signed up / going to sign up for our 12 Hours of Summit Suffering comp.
