The cost of attending the Team Summit Summer trip covers all expenses for your child. We will cover transport to and from the cabin, as well as transport from the cabin to Horseshoe Canyon Ranch. The sign up cost will also cover all food cooked at the cabin each day. We will be preparing all meals at the house through the duration of the trip. It will also cover the daily entrance fee to the ranch, as well as any rest day activities we may do. The only thing your child will need to bring money for is if they want to get a souvenir at the ranch, or if they want to buy a snack along the way.
- What are the dates?
June 3rd - June 10th.
- Do parents transport kids to camp or does Summit bus kids?
Parents transport their children to the gym (Carrollton) the morning we depart, while I and other coaches drive the kids to and from Horseshoe Canyon Ranch via Team Texas' two 15 passenger vans.
- If Summit buses, who drives and do they have a certified bus license?
I will be driving as well as Coach Marisa (Head coach of the Grapevine Team Summit/Kids club program). Neither of us have a “Bus License” or CDL as they are not required for the vans, but I have driven frequently on Team Texas trips around the country.
- Is this open to all Team Summit members, from any gym?
- Who are the chaperones? How many will there be?
Chaperones will be me (head coach of the Carrollton Team Summit/ Kids Club and Youth Program Director of Summit Gyms) Marisa Romero (Head Coach of Grapevine) and Johnny Willbanks (Head Coach of the Denton Team Summit/Kids Club Program). I will bring on more coaches if more than 15-16 kids sign up. All chaperones have background checks and have no criminal records.
- The flyer says camp takes place at Horseshoe Canyon Ranch but further down it says “staying in a cabin in the area.” Which is it?
The climbing location is Horseshoe Canyon Ranch, but cabins on the ranch are outrageously expensive so we are staying in a cabin in Huntsville, Arkansas, roughly 30 minutes away from the ranch. We'll commute to and from the ranch each day, to sleep at the cabin and climb at HCR.
- Is this strictly a Summit camp or is the Horseshoe Canyon Ranch faculty/employees hosting this for Summit?
This is strictly a Summit camp, HCR is not involved.
- Are there separate sleeping/showering arrangements for boys and girls?
The Cabin has 3 bedrooms and two baths. The boys and girls will be seperated.
- Is there a doctor on staff?
There will be no doctor on staff. That being said HCR is a VERY popular climbing location and is well-equipped in case of emergencies.
