What's Going On In May

Summer Camp

Our summer campers laugh, climb and challenge themselves in a supervised environment. Activities include top rope climbing, bouldering, tag traverse, blindfolded climbing, and more. Our knowledgeable staff teach campers basic climbing safety and how to move confidently over the climbing walls.

But wait, there's more...

Head Routesetter Chris LoCrasto will be representing the Summit crew as he sets  for the Divisional Championships in Houston in June.

Team Texas Crushes at SCS Open Nationals

We know it's a little late, but congrats to Team Texas for a great showing at the SCS Open Nationals in sunny southern California!

In sport climbing, our Team Texas females took home three of the US team spots with Grace Mckeehan in 5th, Claire Buhrfeind in 3rd, and Delaney Miller taking home the gold medal! Brendan Mitchell narrowly missed finals with a 9th place finish. That's pretty spectacular in a field made up of the national best climbers.

As for speed climbing, Danielle Rogan took home the silver medal, and Grace Mckeehan got 4th place. Quick note: Grace McKeehan made the US team in all three disciplines (bouldering, sport, and speed). Michael Retoff took 4th for the men.

The best moment of them all was speed demon John Brosler taking down the world champion Stanislav Kokorin to take the gold medal in speed climbing and get a US record 3.95 second time! Here's a video of John's performance just in case you missed it.

New Classes at Summit

That right everyone, we've introduced some new classes to the mix. We've added an opposition class for those who need that extra little bit to send their project, a climbing 201 class for those not quite beginners anymore, and a lead climbing 201 class for all of you who dream of climbing outdoors one day. Not only that, but we've added more abs classes too! That's right one of our most popular classes just got even better because you can do it even more.
